Advertising for hotels
Abella Hotel is located just off the main road through Agia Marina in the Chania region, just a few minutes walk from the beach and the main street. The hotel is currently run by Kostas Katsoulis and his wife Natalie, who both make sure that guests feel like part of the family. Abella is a classic family hotel – known for its personal hospitality, safe atmosphere and genuine presence.

Abella Hotel is situated on a small hill with panoramic views towards Agioi Theodoroi and the sea. The pool area is lush and peaceful with plenty of space for both adults and children. To the right of the picture you can see the hotel’s parking lot, with space for rental cars for guests who want to explore Chania and the rest of Crete on their own.

🏝️ A hotel with history
This is a hotel with heart. Guests return year after year, and many have known the place for decades. Father Manolis, who founded the hotel, is no longer with us, but his warm and honest values live on through his son Kostas and his family. Many of the guests have watched their children grow up, have dinner with the family, and feel more like friends than customers.

From the top floor there is a good view of the sea and the coastline between Agia Marina and Theodorou. The hotel’s facade faces southwest and is surrounded by lush vegetation and palm trees that give it a warm feel. In the garden there are small seating areas and sun loungers placed in both sun and shade. Closest to the camera in the bottom photo we see two solid wooden sun loungers, facing the lawn and the pool further back in the photo.

🍽️ A warm welcome and simple luxury
When you arrive at Abella, you don’t encounter a reception queue – you are met by the family themselves. Kostas and his wife Natalie welcome you with a handshake, a smile and the keys ready. Registration takes place afterwards. Instead, guests are encouraged to take a walk in the garden or the bar and get to know the place. The relaxed tone sets the mood for the entire stay.

Kostas stands ready behind the counter with both overview and smile, creating a personal welcome for everyone who comes. The pool bar is located right next to the pool and serves as the hotel’s informal gathering place. In the background, behind the blue car, is the entrance to the reception where many start their vacation with a handshake rather than a form.

🏊♂️ Pool area for all generations
The hotel has a quiet and sheltered pool area with plenty of space. The bar is located close to the pool and is always staffed – perfect for adults who want to enjoy something cold in the shade. Older children can swim freely, and there is a separate, well-arranged children’s pool for the little ones. There are plenty of sun loungers around the pools. No towel mafia, no stress – just relaxation. You can easily find shade under a large pergola with seating areas.

In the middle of the green garden at Abella Hotel is the large swimming pool surrounded by palm trees and sun loungers. At the top right is the children’s pool separated by a low edge, and at the bottom left we see the pool bar which is right next to the water. Here you can relax in the shade or enjoy a drink in the sun. The evenings are just as inviting, with a calm atmosphere and beautiful reflections of trees and lights in the water.

🛏️ The rooms and the atmosphere
The rooms have the perfect combination of simplicity and spaciousness that is perfect for a holiday stay. Everything you need is there, and many of the rooms have a view of the garden or a balcony with the morning sun. In the older of the two buildings, the apartments are continuous, and here all have a view of the sea. The decor is in classic Greek style, and everything appears clean, well-maintained and personally cared for. The atmosphere is homely and relaxed – just as many hope to find it on holiday.

The rooms at Abella are characterised by personal care and tradition. Everything is clean, tidy and well maintained. The furniture is solid and practical, and the apartments have a dining area, kitchenette and balcony with a view of the sea or the garden. Here you will find space for a stress-free holiday – with the sea in your eyes and the peace in your walls. It is not about luxury, but about well-being and presence.

🌿 A living garden
The garden is lush and beautiful, and an important part of the experience. It serves as a natural gathering point where guests meet, chat, read or just enjoy the peace. You get the view because the hotel is located a little high, with a small hill up from the main road. For most people this is just a pleasant part of the trip, and the reward is a calm and airy atmosphere with greenery around you. In the evening the lights are turned on and a calm, almost magical atmosphere is created.

The garden behind the top hotel building offers shade and comfort. Here you can retreat with a book or enjoy the view of the greenery. In the foreground is wicker outdoor furniture, and further in we see the sun loungers in the grass between the palm trees. The white staircase in the middle of the picture leads to a quiet part of the garden.

🧡 More than just a hotel
Abella Hotel is not a place you just visit. It is a place you return to. Many of the guests are regulars – year after year – and that says something. Here you are not one in a hundred in a tourist machine with shift work at the reception. You are in step with the rhythm of the place and part of the family that runs it. What you encounter is something increasingly rare in the travel world: genuine presence, warm smiles and people who see you. Here, it means something that you came – and it is noticeable.

Abella Hotel in Agia Marina is a place that many return to. These photos show how the evenings often end – with quiet music, dim lighting and good conversations around the pool. The bar is a natural gathering point after dinner and city tours. Here it is easy to get to know both the hosts and the other guests. Some come alone and settle down with a book or a glass of wine, while others gather in small groups. The atmosphere is friendly and genuine, and you quickly feel like you are part of the community. When the sun sets behind the trees, the lamps along the pool edge are turned on, and many stay for a long time.
